Don’t just follow the M4. Leave at the westernmost junction near Reading (whatever number it is) and do the obvious thing: south then third exit (north) off the second roundabout, turning left into the lanes.
Just keep following the sun and you end up joining the B road from Newbury to Wantage. Marvelous!
