Barry Sheerman MP, schools committee chairman, said New Labour has “run its course” and that Gordon Brown must show “strength, will and purpose” to renew the government.

So, we are agreed that New Labour has failed, but hasn’t the country been agreed for at least 20 years that Old Labour was a failure too?

Labour are at least beginning to understand that people get what they want when they spend money themselves – that is, when they enter voluntarily into mutually-beneficial contracts – but I am sure the country cannot afford to wait for Labour to learn finally from experience that democratic socialism does not work.
