Happy New Year

Via the Bucks Free Press, my New Year’s message,

2012 was an extraordinary year for Great Britain.

Up and down the country, we came together in a spontaneous outpouring of neighbourliness and community spirit to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of our beloved Queen with passion, affection and good humour.

You can read the rest via the BFP.

I had the opportunity to catch up with some reading over Christmas, including Paper Promises: Money, Debt and the New World Order by The Economist’s Philip Coggan, Dambisa Moyo’s How The West Was Lost: Fifty Years of Economic Folly – And the Stark Choices Ahead and Peter Leeson’s The Invisible Hook: The Hidden Economics of Pirates, which had the unique benefit in this list of providing light relief. I’ll try to post reviews shortly.

In the meantime, the post just arrived and there’s no shortage of it…

Happy New Year, Steve! Good luck with the backlog of post; people have obviously been ruminating on the state of the nation over the holiday…
