Continued commitment to the protection of children in Bucks

Buckinghamshire County Council has this week agreed to a number of recommendations set out by the Council’s Children’s Social Care and Learning Select Committee. The report details an inquiry conducted by the Committee into the prevention of child sexual exploitation in Buckinghamshire and contains ten recommendations, nine of which have been given full backing by the Cabinet . Children given chance to vote in community cash election


Children as young as 11 will be able to vote alongside adults in a special election which comes to High Wycombe for the first time next week. Buckinghamshire County Council has set up a ballot entitled ‘High Wycombe Decides’ to allow the public to choose where community cash is spent in the town. As outgoing County Council Chairman Zahir Mohammed handed the chain of office to successor Chairman Bill Chapple, he praised those in the voluntary, civic, business and community sectors for their contribution to Buckinghamshire. Work set to start on alternative route through town centre

Buckinghamshire County Council contractors are due to start work next week on Wycombe’s new Westbourne Street Link. The work, expected to be completed in October, is the first phase in giving traffic an alternative route through the town centre, from Oxford Road to Marlow Hill. Phase two, from the Southern end of the new Westbourne Steet Link along Desborough Road through the old gas works to Marlow Hill roundabout, is anticipated to start by March 2016.
