This is a government for working people

Thank you for voting ConservativeThe Conservative Cabinet will meet for the first time today. The Prime Minister will tell the new Cabinet that ‘this is a Government for working people’.

David Cameron is putting working people front and centre of the new Government’s mission. The Prime Minister will announce new legislation that will be introduced within weeks to reform welfare, offer more apprenticeships, create two million jobs and help with childcare costs.

This is a ‘One Nation’ Government that will act in the interests of the whole country and be on the side of all hard-working people as Britain heads to a better, more secure future.

The Prime Minister, David Cameron, will say to the Cabinet:

I want everyone around this table to remember who we’re for.

Every decision we take, every policy we pursue, every programme we initiate, never forget: we’re here to give everyone in our country the chance to make the most of their life.

The pundits might call it “Blue Collar Conservatism”, others being on the side of hardworking taxpayers.

I call it being the real party for working people:  giving everyone in our country the chance to get on, with the dignity of a job, the pride of a paycheque, a home of their own and the security and peace of mind that comes from being able to support a family.

And just as important – for those that can’t work, the support they need at every stage of their lives.
