To improve on this twelve-point skydive, tunnel time booked

On a lighter note, from the collection of Lillo videos, a reasonable two-way formation skydive achieving 12 points. To improve our speed and precision, we have some two-way tunnel time booked for February, something I recommend to anyone, just for fun.

A tandem skydive at Lillo, Spain

Post Image

Tandem at Lillo, Spain, originally uploaded by stevenjbaker. Using a stabilized 70-300 mm lens on the ground, I captured most of a tandem jump from exit at 13,000 feet, through parachute deployment, to the approach. Follow the link from either photo for more. Aggressive cropping was required for the higher-altitude shots, hence the graininess. Tandem at Lillo, Spain, originally uploaded by stevenjbaker.

Six great skydives at Lillo today

Highlights were a superb 2-way of 12 points with outfacing moves followed by a tracking jump. Looking forward to wingsuit: 2-3 minutes in freefall…

An autumn treat

“Difficult is worth doing”

Well done them! My jumps from those planes were rather less sophisticated. Difficult is worth doing, and not just in the air.

Finishing off the trip and reflecting on carbon offsetting

Post Image

We squeezed in three jumps this morning: one tracking, one fun and a four way formation. The Porter’s door is small for four big lads: So, despite practising the exit, we broke the formation while upside down and reformed before crossing over and under one another a couple of times. Great fun and a good finish to the trip with a fast, well-timed landing. I’m acutely aware that skydiving isn’t environmentally friendly. Obviously, not jumping is off the table: there […]
